Welcome to Vida...

About Vida Sheffield
Vida is an independent voluntary sector organisation. We deliver specialist domestic and sexual abuse services and training, and engage with partners to work towards an end to domestic abuse, and violence against women and girls. Our name means 'life' in Spanish - a positive assertion of what our work is all about.

Vida are reliant on fundraising and income generation activities - including small donations via our Localgiving button. Please consider making a donation to support our work: every little really does help!!

Eva Therapy Service waiting list

Vida offer a specialist trauma focused therapy service to women and girls affected by trauma related to any form of abuse. We are always busy, but have seen a marked increase in referrals this year which we are now taking through the service pathway. We have made a difficult decision to close to new referrals while we manage the current waiting list - we will review the situation monthly, so please keep checking the website. The Eva Support Group will continue to offer informal crafts based activities alternate Monday mornings.

Fundraising opportunities 2019...

Vida made fantastic progress following a financial crisis in 2016 - securing new grants and a host of fundraising efforts: huge thanks to everyone who leapt from moving planes, ran half marathons or danced their socks off! We face further challenges when our Comic Relief & Lottery grants end in 2020, and with ever growing competition for charitable funding, so please look out for opportunities to support fundraising for our Eva Therapy Service.

Vida have been shortlisted for the Sheffield Mutual Charity Award 2019! Voting is now live until 31 July:

Here is another way you and your contacts can help – at no cost to yourselves!

Amazon Smile charity giving – when making purchases and the Smile box comes up, just search for ‘Vida Sheffield’ or start your purchase from here: smile.vida and Amazon will donate 0.5% of eligible purchases, for as long as the scheme exists.

 WAGI Recovery & Empowerment Partnership

Vida are lead partner in an exciting Women & Girls Recovery & Empowerment Partnership, securing funding from the Big Lottery Women & Girls Initiative for 4 years 2016-2020. Along with our Comic Relief grant, the funding has enabled Vida to sustain and develop our free therapeutic services for women and girls affected by abuse and trauma. See info about the services, referral criteria and contact details for the 5 key partners here: WAGI_Partnership_Services

Vida Multi-Agency Training

Vida's specialist training related to domestic and sexual abuse, coercive control, and trauma informed working can be found on the Training pages [or download the A4 flyer with learning outcomes on the back: Vida Multi-Agency Training Autumn 2019]

Vida must charge for places but can guarantee a quality training experience - book online or download a booking form - or contact us about your bespoke training needs - we are increasingly delivering training outside Sheffield. The Vida Director, Maureen Storey, delivers coercive control training to Police forces around the country as a SafeLives Associate.

Know the Line sexual harassment campaign

Vida's work has never been just about service delivery - we want to see culture changes that reduce the need for our services in the future. We are proud to be involved in initiatives like the Gender Respect Project  and public awareness events that engage the hearts and minds of people in Sheffield and beyond - like the One Billion Rising global campaign.

Since 2018 Vida and partners, including the Women's Equality Party, have developed a new public awareness campaign to challenge the sexual harassment of women and girls in our streets and other public places: Know the Line. The timing couldn't have been better following all the media attention generated by #metoo. Follow the campaign at  and on twitter @knowthelineSY
