vida is a registered charity, and our funding mostly comes through grants from charitable trusts, although we also rely on fundraising to generate smaller amounts for Eva Women's Services and the No Recourse Fund.

During 2016-17 our work is primarily funded by:

  • The Big Lottery Fund: Women & Girls Initiative
  • Comic Relief
  • Evan Cornish Foundation
  • The Brelms Trust
  • Allen Lane Foundation
  • Sheffield Town Trust

VIDA benefits

band and singers on stage at VIDA benefitVIDA host fundraisers every year to raise money for our EVA Services and the Women's No Recourse Fund [see below].

A big thank you to people who come and dance with such gusto, the bellydancers for their brilliant performances and the fabulous Free Radicals for their marvellous dance music.

And a big thanks to One Billion Rising organisers who shared some of the proceeds from the 2013 & 2015 events with Eva.

See homepage and e-mailings for details of future events!

Women's No Recourse Fund

When vida host fundraising events we often raise money for Sheffield Women's No Recourse Fund, which we set up and administer, for women who have no recourse to public funds.

If women have come to the UK on a Spousal Visa, they are economically dependent on their husband for up to 5 years. If the relationship is abusive, their immigration status prevents them from working or claiming benefits to support themselves and leave the relationship. It also limits access to escape routes like refuges or rehousing, or other publicly funded services. This creates a desperate choice between abuse or destitution. The Sheffield Women's No Recourse Fund provides limited financial assistance to enable the local specialist domestic abuse services to support women and children fleeing abuse for up to eight weeks.

To donate to the Sheffield Women's No Recourse Fund please contact us at the vida office on 0114 275 0101 or download the Appeal Leaflet from the Resources page.
